So, I was thinking back to our kitchen table. This one came out really nice... or so we think. The legs and the edges of the top are wenge and the top is bubinga. I picked very quartersawn wenge to give it a nice 'this is framework' kind of look and the bubinga was mildly figured giving a nice, but not overdone, contrast. These are just the CAD models, I have photos somewhere... still looking for a nice chair design to go with them.

So this is my furniture design 'blog' if you want to call it that... it will mostly be photos with a little text about my woodworking designs.
I am going to begin with a bedroom suite I am working on... the design has been 'set'... I just need to build it now! You may also notice that the design for the bed in the first 3 pictures is a king size. The bedroom suite picture at bottom is queen size. I think we will be staying with a queen size rather than the king. The bed morphed a little too but not until i'd come up with the design for the nightstands.
So I began with the bed. Here it is in Maple and Cherry:
Bubinga and Wenge:
Cherry and Wenge
I think we have decided on cherry and maple... not maple and cherry... so the legs and horizontal sides will be lightly figured maple... the head and foot-boards will be figured cherry. There has also been some evolution.
After the bed I looked at the night-stands... this is what I came up with. You can see from the 'bedroom suite' jpg that the bed evolved a little too.
